The Drive to Bunny Flat on Everitt Memorial HWY A10 is Open!

The drive up to Bunny Flat on Everitt Memorial Highway is currently open. No chains are required. Everitt Memorial Highway is a two-lane paved highway leading from Mt. Shasta City to Mt. Shasta, the mountain.

The first gate near McBride Springs is open, providing access to areas like 10 Gallon Trailhead, Everitt Memorial Vista, Sand Flat, and Bunny Flat. The gate located at Bunny Flat up to Panther Meadow and Old Ski Bowl is closed until early summer. Road access to Panther Meadow and Old Ski Bowl is also closed as a result.

Panther Meadow is open from early summer to mid-fall. The best time to visit Panther Meadow to see wildflowers is early August.

Snow Coverage reaches down at about 6,000' in elevation. Be prepared for cold conditions when planning to travel to the mountain near Bunny Flat. Wear appropriate clothes, shoes, and carry emergency provisions.

Main roads and trails in and around Mt. Shasta City are clear of snow and no chains are required or needed.

McCloud River Falls access roads are open, but Fowlers Campground is closed until early May.

Castle Lake Rd is open and you can drive all the way up to Castle Lake.
