What we’ll cover:

  • Week 1: Basics & Brush Play — Learn the essential tools, explore wet-on-wet vs. wet-on-dry, create washes and gradients, and experiment with brush strokes. We’ll finish with a loose floral piece so you leave with something beautiful.

  • Week 2: Color Theory & Watercolor Magic — Dive into mixing, transparency, layering, harmonies & contrasts. Understand how color choices affect mood and depth.

  • Week 3: Composition & Nature-Inspired Painting — Learn how to plan a painting: thumbnail sketches, focal point placement, layering to create depth. Paint from still lifes, botanicals, or simple landscape references.

  • Week 4: Final Project & Showcase — Bring together what you’ve learned in a polished piece of your choice (floral, landscape, or abstract). Receive feedback, refine your technique, and celebrate your progress with a group share.

Supplies: Students bring their own supplies. A full supply list has been shared with Iris at The Velvet Elephant (right next door to Redwood Gallery). Mention that you’re coming from RG and you’ll receive an extra discount when purchasing your materials there.
