Ecotourism
Here is an opportunity for you to help protect our beautiful Mount Shasta recreational areas, contribute to public awareness on the fragility of our ecosystem and leave a lasting legacy for not only you to enjoy but for generations to come. The contributions you make to this fund help our local volunteers and organizations clean up our rivers, lakes, trails, meadows, campgrounds, downtown parks and our magnificent mountain. The Mt. Shasta Visitors' Bureau defines ecotourism as "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people." We implement and participate in ecotourism activities through the following principles:
- Minimize impact
- Build environmental and cultural awareness
- Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
- Provide direct financial benefits for conservation
- Provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people
Share the joy and donate to the Stewardship Fund. This fund is sponsored by the Jefferson Economic Development Institute (JEDI) which is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering people and communities to create prosperity.
"When I first caught sight of Mount Shasta over the braided folds of the Sacramento Valley, my blood turned to wine, and I have not been weary since."
— John Muir, 1874
